Product Photography 101

Online sales are an ever increasing portion of the marketplace, whether on websites like Amazon and Ebay or individual company websites. Your device screen shows a constant barrage of advertising pop ups, Instagram images, and Facebook posts.

Now, more than ever, businesses need an ever increasing number of images for their online stores, and promotional posts. While a professional photography session may be a viable expense for static uses, it’s not cost effective for your ever changing product line or today’s Instagram shot.

Product Photography 101 is all about creating beautiful product images easily and affordably using a smartphone camera. Get your online store up and running without breaking the bank or having a nervous breakdown by taking care of this one task that’s probably been holding you back!

The presentation will discuss image consistency, lighting tips and tricks, image stabilization solutions, background concept and consider what preparations you’ll need for the “shoot” itself.
We’ll cover some of the common settings that phone cameras have that will help improve your shots and even give some photo editing ideas.
Then we’ll let you loose for hands on practice time. bring something you want to photograph or use some sample items we’ll have around

Whether you want an online store or simply sell something on BH Barter and Swap we can help highlight your products.

This workshop will be presented by professional photographer Kelly Mitchell of The Limited Lens. Whilst Kelly has a soft spot in her heart for land/seascapes, she has practiced all genres of photography, including commercial/website for local businesses in Bar Harbor and portrait photography.

Kelly’s work was featured in the Acadia National Park Centennial Celebration Then and Now series.
